Abstract

The article celebrates a few ephemeris - Ernildo Stein's 90th birthday and the 20th anniversary of the IHU dossier and, in advance, the 60th anniversary of Martin Heidegger's death and the 100th anniversary of the publication of Being and Time - not just as a memorial, but as an opportunity to consider the content of the philosophy set out in the writings of the Brazilian philosopher. For this reason, in the first part, I will briefly discuss some elements of Stein's academic background and work and, in the second part, I will present a reading of the Seminar on Truth (1993) in the light of four specific concepts: fundamental ontology, method, truth, and Heideggerian violence and deception. The questions that guide this analysis are: firstly, is Ernildo Stein's Heidegger a mere commentary on SZ or is it a work that the Brazilian philosopher recreated based on his interpretation of the Black Forest philosopher? and secondly, to what extent can Heidegger be read outside the logic of modernity and philosophical anthropology?
